Your Role

 

As a Patient Food Service Care Assistant within our team here in Galway University College Hospital, Newcastle Road, you will be helping us to deliver our food services to patients on the hospital wards. This is a very rewarding position for the right candidate, in not only delivering meals but also providing a positive and engaging service to patients.
 
Whilst previous experience is desirable, full training will be provided and advancement opportunities are also available for employees who would like to build a career with us.

 

Working shift work, 5 days out of 7 so flexibility is required. Full-time and part-time roles available. 

 

Rate of pay is €12 per hour for this role.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide the highest level of customer service and confidentiality, dignity & respect to all patients at all times-ensuring a pleasant & courteous approach. 
  • Distribute menus in line with any special modified/therapeutic dietary requirements.
  • Prepare patient food & beverage trays in accordance with relevant SOP procedures whilst maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and food safety and ensuring adherence to any specific dietary requirements.
  • Deliver food/beverage trays to patients in accordance with relevant SOP whilst maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and food safety. 
  • Ensure food safety records are accurately completed -ensuring all food hygiene regulations are adhered to, in particular H.A.C.C. P regulations. 
  • Maintain full awareness of allergen information & patient dietary requirements -communicating with your Line Manager and where appropriate ward personnel.
  • Collect trays back up from patients- ensuring all trays & all tray stands are cleaned, washed, & sanitised in line with SOP’s. 
  • Ensure cutlery, crockery, jugs, delph , food surfaces , equipment, workstations etc are washed & cleaned and sanitised in line with food safety instructions & control measures. 
  • Record and maintain waste records. Promote & implement all our Health & Safety & Food Safety policies and procedures. 
  • Comply with Covid19 safety measures including following correct hand & respiratory hygiene, safe distancing measures, HSE infection Control directives & Covid19 absence /symptoms procedures as per Company Quality safety an Infection Control directive. 
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties.

  • Great attention to detail and able to work in a busy environment. 
  • A friendly personality, good people skills and can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative as/when required.
  • Team player with good communication skills and ability to work towards a common goal
  • Comply with quality, health and safety policies and practices at all times.
