Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Assistant Retail Manager will support the day-to-day management of retail services across the University Hospital Galway campus. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, leading and developing teams, managing stock and financial controls, and ensuring all retail operations meet Aramark's standards for quality, safety and performance.

Job Responsibilities

Support the Retail Manager in the daily operation and supervision of retail outlets across the hospital campus.
Lead, motivate and develop retail teams to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve operational objectives.
Ensure high standards of presentation, cleanliness and customer experience are maintained at all times.
Respond professionally and effectively to customer feedback, complaints and service issues.
Provide coaching, mentoring and performance feedback to team members.
Complete daily and weekly cash handling, reconciliations and administrative duties in line with Aramark financial procedures.
Oversee stock control processes, conduct monthly stock takes and maintain stock levels within agreed targets.
Order stock, supplies and equipment in conjunction with the Campus Purchasing Manager.
Monitor costs, minimise waste and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding, retention and employee development initiatives.
Participate in performance management processes, including reviews, coaching and disciplinary procedures where required.
Build strong relationships with customers, hospital stakeholders and colleagues across the business.
Maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation and ISO standards.
Stay informed of retail trends, customer preferences and product development opportunities.
Assume responsibility for retail operations during periods of absence of the Retail Manager.

Qualifications

Previous supervisory or management experience within a retail, hospitality, catering or food service environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
Excellent customer service and customer relationship management skills.
Experience in cash handling, stock management and retail administration.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Good financial awareness with experience managing stock levels, costs and budgets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and retail administration systems.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements in a customer-facing environment.

Experience within a healthcare, hospital or high-volume retail environment.
Previous experience conducting performance reviews and managing employee relations matters.
Knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
Relevant qualification in Retail Management, Business, Hospitality or a related field.
