Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (Full Time)
Location: Blackhall Campus and associated off-site buildings (e.g., George’s Court, Education Hub)

Job Role:
To provide a high-quality campus porter service, supporting the safe and professional movement of goods, furniture, and equipment, and delivering room setups, logistics, and general facilities support. This is a frontline, customer-facing role and the porter is an ambassador for Facilities in ensuring high standards of presentation, responsiveness, and customer service at all times.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out porterage duties including the collection, delivery, and relocation of furniture, parcels/postage, equipment, and supplies across multiple buildings.
  • Deliver room setups and breakdowns for meetings, conferences, and events — ensuring setups match the agreed layout prior to handover.
  • Proactively monitor condition of public spaces and teaching rooms, ensuring they are tidy, safe, and ready for use (e.g., chairs aligned, consumables replenished).
  • Conduct routine internal and external building checks, reporting maintenance or safety issues.
  • Support site operations including waste management, recycling, and general housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Provide access and escort support to contractors, visitors, and delivery services.
  • Assist with building moves and office relocations.
  • Respond to Helpdesk tasks and close out requests so there is a clear record of work completed.
  • Drive a company vehicle between locations and maintain vehicle logs when required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with procedures, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Physically fit for manual handling activities
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Positive and proactive attitude
  • High attention to detail, particularly with room setups and event preparation

Desirable

  • Experience in facilities, estates, maintenance, or porter roles
  • Manual handling training
  • Experience using CAFM/helpdesk systems
  • Knowledge of building safety and facilities procedures
