Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced leader to head our Building Consultancy team—delivering expert technical insight, operational oversight, and client-focused solutions across a diverse property portfolio.
As our Head of Building Consultancy, you’ll lead inspections, condition assessments, and strategic planning, while managing a growing team of surveyors and consultants. You’ll act as the senior technical advisor for stakeholders ranging from property managers to investors, ensuring quality, compliance, and long-term performance of our built assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Performance
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of building consultants and surveyors
Oversee resourcing, project allocation, and team development
Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Technical Delivery & Compliance
Oversee inspections, condition reports, lifecycle assessments, and refurbishment planning
Ensure work meets all compliance standards—including fire safety, building regs, H&S, and ESG
Review technical outputs for accuracy, clarity, and commercial relevance
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as senior advisor to landlords, asset managers, FM teams, and tenants
Present findings and strategic advice clearly to a range of audiences
Provide expert input on dilapidations, lease obligations, acquisitions, and disposals
Operational & Commercial Oversight
Track performance, budget forecasts, and service KPIs
Drive system and process improvements to boost efficiency
Align consultancy strategy with broader risk and portfolio objectives
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
7–10+ years’ experience in building consultancy or real estate, including 3+ in management
Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or Engineering (MRICS/MCIOB/CIBSE preferred)
Strong understanding of leasehold law, landlord/tenant obligations, and asset management
Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with large-scale or complex property portfolios
