The Bar Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of bar operations, ensuring exceptional service, effective staff management, and tight control of stock and cash. Operating within a high-profile venue, the role demands discretion, attention to detail, and a hands-on leadership style to uphold company standards and drive performance.

Job Responsibilities

Service & Standards

  • Deliver outstanding guest experiences and maintain high presentation standards
  • Lead by example with a hands-on approach, ensuring team engagement and motivation
  • Implement promotions and ensure excellent product knowledge across the team

Stock Control

  • Maintain and rotate stock levels
  • Accurately record stock counts, discrepancies, and wastage/ullage
  • Ensure secure filing and data input of stock records

Cash Control

  • Manage cash floats and ensure accurate cash lifts
  • Enforce strict cash handling procedures and issue receipts for all transactions
  • Prevent stock and cash losses through effective controls

Staff Management

  • Conduct staff inductions and ensure adherence to company policies
  • Supervise bar and floor staff, ensuring courteous and timely service
  • Promote a positive work environment and report incidents to HR
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of team members

Security & Compliance

  • Maintain control of keys and secure storerooms
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and work areas

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years’ experience in hospitality, ideally in a senior bar role
  • Strong background in premium beverage service and wine management
  • Excellent attention to detail and initiative
  • Positive, solutions-focused attitude with strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
