The Bar Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of bar operations, ensuring exceptional service, effective staff management, and tight control of stock and cash. Operating within a high-profile venue, the role demands discretion, attention to detail, and a hands-on leadership style to uphold company standards and drive performance.
Job Responsibilities
Service & Standards
- Deliver outstanding guest experiences and maintain high presentation standards
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach, ensuring team engagement and motivation
- Implement promotions and ensure excellent product knowledge across the team
Stock Control
- Maintain and rotate stock levels
- Accurately record stock counts, discrepancies, and wastage/ullage
- Ensure secure filing and data input of stock records
Cash Control
- Manage cash floats and ensure accurate cash lifts
- Enforce strict cash handling procedures and issue receipts for all transactions
- Prevent stock and cash losses through effective controls
Staff Management
- Conduct staff inductions and ensure adherence to company policies
- Supervise bar and floor staff, ensuring courteous and timely service
- Promote a positive work environment and report incidents to HR
- Support recruitment, training, and development of team members
Security & Compliance
- Maintain control of keys and secure storerooms
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and work areas
Qualifications
- 5–10 years’ experience in hospitality, ideally in a senior bar role
- Strong background in premium beverage service and wine management
- Excellent attention to detail and initiative
- Positive, solutions-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
