Job Description
Aramark is currently recruiting for a Safety Specialist to join our facilities management team, this is a site-based role at a client location near Cork City. Working with the onsite operations teams and reporting directly to the Head of Safety, the successful candidate will be responsible for health and safety remit across the contract.
**Please note: This is a part-time role, requiring 20 hours per week, with flexible working days/ hours**
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact on site for food safety matters, providing day-to-day technical advice, guidance and support to the operational and management teams.
Implement, maintain and continuously improve the site's Food Safety Management System, including HACCP, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, applicable legislation, relevant standards and certifications, and driving continuous improvement across the system.
Promote a positive food safety culture across the business.
Ensure that food safety audits are carried out in conjunction with the management team and in-line with company/client policies.
Investigate customer complaints and food-related incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Develop and monitor Risk Assessments for the site and make recommendations to ensure a safe and effective workplace across the contract.
Accident Management – responsibility for accident reporting compliance, assistance and completion of accident investigation, identification and implementation of all corrective actions and effective preventative programs
Report injuries, diseases, and dangerous occurrences in line with reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences regulations.
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all food safety legislation, and any updates provided from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, Health and Safety Authority (HSA) legislation and any developments that affect the industry.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to evaluate compliance with Health & Safety, food safety and quality standards, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Assist and support site managers in ensuring a safe working environment each day.
Work closely with staff to ensure all employees receive a good standard of Food and H&S training relevant to their position in the company.
Provide training and guidance to employees at all levels regarding food safety and Health & Safety practices, including hygiene, sanitation, GMPs, and quality assurance procedures.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives across Health & Safety and Food Safety.
Investigate and resolve customer complaints or product non-conformities related to food safety and quality, ensuring timely and appropriate corrective actions, where applicable.
Produce Monthly KPI Reports and monitor Health & Safety and Food Safety performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 7 qualification in Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Health, Health & Safety or a related discipline, combined with relevant practical experience.
Relevant experience in a food safety-focused role, ideally within a food manufacturing, catering, hospitality or other high-volume food environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety legislation, HACCP principles, GMPs and food safety management systems.
Experience conducting food safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
Experience in accident/incident investigation and risk assessment would be advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach
Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
Team Player demonstrating flexibility.
