Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and organised Catering Assistant to join our dynamic catering team in Cork, Ireland. This is a permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a professional hospitality environment. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our catering operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, service, and hygiene are maintained at all times whilst delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• Assist with the serving of food and beverages to guests, ensuring a professional, courteous, and attentive service at all times - Support with stock management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food items appropriately to maintain freshness and quality - Wash, clean, and sterilise kitchen equipment and utensils to the required standards, maintaining a hygienic working environment
• Assist with food preparation tasks under supervision, following recipes and instructions with precision and attention to detail - Support senior catering staff with general duties as required, demonstrating flexibility, enthusiasm, and a genuine willingness to learn - Respond promptly and positively to requests from team members, contributing actively to a collaborative and supportive working environment
• Comply with all food safety regulations, health and hygiene standards, and organisational policies at all times - Maintain personal hygiene standards and adhere to dress code requirements - Help manage waste disposal and recycling in accordance with environmental best practices - Communicate effectively with team members and customers, demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices, or willingness to obtain Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 - Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively - Ability to work efficiently and remain calm in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent people skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team - Attention to detail and genuine commitment to maintaining consistently high standards - Reliable, punctual, and flexible with the ability to work varied shift patterns, including weekends and evenings as required - Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately and promptly
• Physical stamina and capability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks - Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm for learning and professional development - Willingness to embrace new ideas and contribute to continuous improvement within the team - Basic numeracy skills for stock management and inventory control - Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment (desirable) - Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen awareness (desirable) - Experience with food service equipment and kitchen operations (desirable)
