Job Title: Catering Assistant
Location: Colchester Institute, Sheepen Road, Colchester, CO3 3LL
Additional Site: Braintree Institute (occasional requirement)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 20 hours per week
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Shift Times: Between 09:30 – 13:30
Salary: £12.21 per hour / £8,480.33 annually (Pro Rata)
Working Weeks: 31 working weeks, 34.727 paid weeks

About the Role
We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at Colchester Institute. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve food and beverages to customers, ensuring portioning, presentation, and combinations meet brand standards
• Answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients
• Prepare basic cold food and made-to-order items, including hot deli and live action stations
• Handle payments and maintain accurate financial records

• Ability to work well in a team and independently
• Basic food preparation skills
• Enhanced DBS check required
