Catering Assistant – Caldicot School (REQ 606436)
Location: Caldicot School, NP26 5XA
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 16 hours per week, Term Time Only (39 working weeks)
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Salary: £12.60 per hour (Welsh Living Wage, equated)
Are you passionate about fresh food and delivering excellent customer service? We’re looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our busy school canteen team at Caldicot School.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the daily catering operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and service.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Supporting the catering manager with day-to-day operations
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and allergen regulations
- Providing a friendly and professional service to all customers
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in catering or retail is desirable
- Experience in high-volume food production
- Understanding of allergen legislation and food hygiene standards
- A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

Additional Information:
Occasional overtime may be available to cover staff absence. All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK and will be required to provide documentation during the recruitment process. A full DBS disclosure will be required for the successful candidate.
