About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Part-Time Chef to join the kitchen team at a 96-bed male hostel in central Bristol. This isn’t your typical kitchen role — it’s an opportunity to make a real difference. You'll be preparing and serving lunch and dinner for residents and staff, many of whom are facing homelessness and other life challenges.

This is a rewarding position for someone who wants to use their culinary skills in a meaningful way. You'll have the freedom to create daily specials, develop menus, and focus on quality food that offers comfort, nourishment, and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals to residents and staff
  • Create daily specials and varied menus
  • Maintain food safety standards, including allergen, temperature, and fridge/freezer checks
  • Assist with ordering and stock control

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Level 2 Professional Cooking qualification
  • Empathetic, resilient, and open-minded individuals who can work calmly in unpredictable situations

What You’ll Get

  • Free meal on duty
  • Access to employee benefits portal – discounts on hundreds of high street brands
  • Online GP access
  • Apprenticeship schemes and learning opportunities

About the Site

This is a 96-bed hostel operated by a Christian charity with a mission to meet human needs without discrimination. The site provides support for individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

This is not a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen. Instead, it’s a role that allows for creativity, patience, and a genuine connection to the people you serve. If you’re looking for work that brings purpose as well as a paycheck, we’d love to hear from you.

All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
