We are currently recruiting for a Food Service Assistant to join our team at HMP Birmingham, Winson Green.

What you’ll be doing 

You will need to be flexible according to business requirements.  The daily focus may vary; however, it is expected that activities will typically include the following: 

• Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers 
• Cooking breakfast and lunch 
• Cleaning and closing of the cafe 
• Working alongside enhanced inmates in a safe environment within the cafe, assisting with the day to day running of the cafe. 
• General kitchen duties 
• General front of house duties such as clearing tables, table service, customer service 
• Till work and taking payments 
• Restocking items and stock rotation 
• Sweeping/Mopping and general housekeeping to ensure areas are always cleaned to a high standard. 
• We aim for all staff to be multi skilled and flexible with full training and support provided both on the job and via our e learning portal. 

Experience 

• Previous experience in preparing food and cash handling is essential 
• Food Safety level 2  
• A great team player with a flexible approach to duties 
• A DBS check will be required for this role
