You will be assisting with the production of breakfast and dinner for residents daily, this is a chance to be creative and have freedom to prepare different meals for the residents experiencing homelessness. This role is not a fast-paced kitchen environment but an opportunity to take your time and focus on quality and creativity. Doing work that pays not only in salary but in personal pride and doing good for others.

The site offers a wide range of services to include supporting those with addiction, mental health, homelessness, and individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system.

 

Owing to the unpredictable environment, this role will require a candidate who is strong willed, empathetic, and who accepts people from all walks of life. This work can be challenging but also very rewarding and you learn many skills about de-escalation that can be useful in any walk of life.

This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, working 5 days over 7 including some weekend work. Shifts range between 7.30am - 6pm. 
The hourly rate is £14. Double pay on Bank Holidays and overtime when applicable.

A day in the life of a Cook:
You will be preparing both hot and cold food, serving breakfast, main meals and desserts in a canteen style environment, within a homeless lifehouse.
Managing catering assistants or KP’s that are onsite to assist you.
Following menus or creating your own meal ideas, with lots of free time to prepare meals for a small set number of people you can get creative.
You will be serving on the hot counter at breakfast and dinner time, interacting with residents and keeping track of any dishes running low and always carrying out Food Safety.
Cleaning down areas and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
 

You will be set up for success if you have:
Relevant cookery/culinary qualification is desirable; however, we will consider previous catering experience too (2 years minimum)
Food hygiene level 2 is desirable however can be obtained via our online e-learning portal.
