We are seeking a reliable and detailed oriented Food Service Supervisor to support daily kitchen operations in a private school. Someone who is also passionate about great food, great people, and creating a welcoming dining experience for students and faculty. This role combines hands on culinary leadership, operational support, while helping to deliver a welcoming dining experience for students, staff, and guests.
You will report to Food Service Manager works closely with the Food Service Manager to maintain smooth kitchen operations, kitchen safety, and support team performance in a fast-paced institutional environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of food service staff.
- Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served according to quality and safety standards.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
- Train, coach, and support team members in food handling procedures, customer service, and workplace policies.
- Assist with staff scheduling and coordinate coverage for absences and peak business periods.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and storing food, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of food preparation, storage, and service areas to maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Maintain accurate records, including temperature logs, inventory records, and incident reports.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
- Support catering, special events, and other operational functions as required.
- Assist with cash handling, point-of-sale operations, and daily reconciliation when applicable.
- Monitor labor costs and productivity to support operational goals.
- Lead operations in the absence of the Manager and ensure continuity of service.
- Promote teamwork, positive employee relations, and a strong customer-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years food service or kitchen supervisory experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to lead by example in a hand on environment
- Food safe certification is required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Committed to high service standards
- Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with active kitchen work.
- A diploma, certificate or degree in hospitality management (or related field) is an asset.
- Calm under pressure and committed to high service standards.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00.
