Job Description

The Catering Director oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of catering services across a large, high volume university campus. This role ensures that all catered events—from departmental meetings and student functions to major institutional celebrations—are delivered with consistency, quality, and a strong focus on campus partnership. The Catering Director leads the catering team, supports faculty and staff clients, and ensures every event reflects the standards and expectations of the university community.

Job Responsibilities

•    Develop and execute catering solutions that align with university needs, departmental goals, and campus culture
•    Build strong rapport with faculty, staff, student groups, and internal partners
•    Ensure consistent excellence in planning and delivering campus events of varied size and scope
•    Translate event details into clear BEOs and facilitate accurate food and service delivery
•    Support campus clients in planning special events and provide thoughtful, creative solutions
•    Train and guide catering employees to uphold standards for service, presentation, and execution
•    Ensure all event requests are fulfilled accurately and consistently
•    Support delivery of sales, food, and labor targets while maintaining departmental budgets
•    Oversee staffing, coordination, and on site management for campus events ranging from small receptions to large institutional gatherings
•    Ensure accurate reporting of catering revenue, expenses, and receivables
•    Recruit, train, schedule, and lead the catering team
•    Ensure adherence to all food, occupational, and environmental safety policies

Qualifications

•    Minimum 3 years of catering or events experience
•    1–3 years in a supervisory or management role
•    Demonstrated experience in event planning and catering operations
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
•    Availability to work event based hours
•    Strong verbal and written communication abilities
•    Completion of required Food Handlers and Alcohol Service certifications

The pay range for this position is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00.
