We know that a Chef’s job isn’t only about the food. It takes skills, dedication, patience, and the right opportunities. We’re looking for a Chef Manager for Aramark’s Wilfrid Laurier University campus food service operation.
The Chef Manager is relied upon to help us deliver the best customer service and food experiences. You’ll take a hands-on approach in focusing on team development, culinary expertise, safety protocol, and client relations. Our Chef Manager will also play a key role in helping us meet budget requirements and execute company-delivered programs.

Job Responsibilities
• Responsible for culinary production of our proprietary healthy, hot, and cold stations
• Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistence
• Oversee weekly menu planning from new or formulated recipes in our PRIMA database
• Establish presentation techniques and quality standards; plan and price menus
• Estimate food consumption and remain within budget for food and labour costs
• Conduct inventory, place orders, receive deliveries; reconcile orders as required
• Train, manage and direct BOH kitchen staff; coordinate all culinary related activities
• Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance; ensure proper safety and sanitation

Qualifications
• Post-secondary Culinary or hospitality training is required or equivalent in experience
• 3-5 years culinary experience with demonstrated career advancement in the fiield
• 1-2 years staff management experience including training, developing and conflict mitigation
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
• Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
• Well developed communication skills with clients, customers, staff and colleagues
• Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
