Job Description

A Retail Food Services Supervisor oversees daily operations to ensure efficient service, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating schedules, monitoring inventory and supplies, maintaining food safety standards, handling customer concerns, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The supervisor also performs office and administrative duties such as record keeping, ordering, reporting, payroll support, and other operational paperwork.

Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities – Retail Food Service Supervisor

  • Supervise and coordinate daily food service and retail operations.
  • Assign duties, monitor staff performance, and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Train, guide, and support employees on customer service, food handling, and workplace procedures.
  • Ensure food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards are maintained.
  • Monitor inventory, stock levels, product ordering, receiving, and storage.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues professionally.
  • Operate and monitor cash registers, sales transactions, and daily cash reconciliation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Complete office and administrative duties, including filing, record keeping, scheduling, and data entry.
  • Monitor sales, expenses, waste, and overall operational performance.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements are followed.
  • Coordinate opening and closing procedures and ensure the facility is secure.
  • Communicate operational updates and concerns to management.
  • Assist with staffing, payroll information, attendance records, and employee scheduling.
  • Identify operational issues and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and customer-focused work environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service, retail, hospitality, or a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle cash, sales records, inventory, and daily reports.
  • Basic computer and office administration skills.
  • Ability to schedule staff and coordinate daily operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Food handler or food safety certification is an asset.
