Aramark is recruiting a motivated, organized and growth-oriented Junior Sous Chef to join our dedicated culinary team at a Private School in Toronto. This is an entry-level management position ideal for someone with a strong foundation in kitchen operations and a desire to take the next step in their culinary career!
Sample of Work Schedule
Tuesday – Saturday
9:00AM – 5:00PM or 10:00AM – 6:00PM
Job Responsibilities
• Responsible for preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures
• Safety handles knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc.
• Responsible for oversight or delegation to junior staff within the culinary operation
• Supports daily resident breakfast and lunch service for up to 1,000 students
• Supervises Garde Manger operations, monitors and reduces leftovers and food waste
• Manages product ordering, receiving, and restocking of boarding pantry
• Maintains juice fridge inventory, cleanliness, sanitation logs, and ensures food safety compliance
• Provides weekend and evening coverage as required in the event of absences

Qualifications
• 2-4 years kitchen experience ideally as a First Cook, Supervisor or Chef de Partie level
• Previous kitchen supervision experience is a requirement
• A culinary diploma, degree or coursework is preferred
• A mindful, intelligent, and forward-thinking approach to kitchen operations
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment with a desire elevate their career
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
