Aramark is recruiting an experienced Director of Housekeeping to manage housekeeping, laundry, custodial services and support staff for a well-established independent school in Toronto.  The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in a similar role and possess the “Yes” and “How” attitude to ensure all tasks are completed in a professional and timely manner to ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained for all students, staff, faculty and management.

Job Responsibilities

•    Lead and oversee all housekeeping operations across the school campus ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
•    Supervise, coach, and develop housekeeping supervisors, housekeepers, porters, and other support staff.
•    Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate employees while addressing performance, attendance, and disciplinary matters.
•    Conduct regular inspections, audits, and quality reviews to ensure service standards and client expectations are consistently achieved.
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with school stakeholders through proactive communication and issue resolution.
•    Develop workforce schedules, assign daily tasks, and ensure adequate staffing coverage for all areas and shifts.
•    Manage inventory, supplies, chemicals, and equipment while maintaining cost control and operational efficiency.
•    Completion of payroll to company Employment Standards Act (ESA) standards
•    Completion and maintenance of fiscal year budgets for both Aramark and the Client
•    Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company policies, including incident reporting and corrective actions.
•    Monitor facility conditions and recommend repairs, maintenance, equipment upgrades, and space improvements.
•    Support special events, emergency response activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

•    Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
•    Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience in an institutional, educational, healthcare, hospitality, or similar environment.
•    Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and employee performance management skills.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning procedures, floor care, carpet care, and custodial best practices.
•    Experience with cleaning equipment, chemicals, inventory management, and safe chemical handling practices.
•    Knowledge of environmentally sustainable and green cleaning programs and procedures.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and stakeholders.
•    Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and in a fast-paced environment when required.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00.
