The Food Service Aide / Dietary Aide / Worker is responsible for provision of highest quality food service to residents, staff and visitors. The Food Service / Dietary Aide is primarily responsible for duties related to (but not limited to) meal time plating, portioning and serving of all menu items to serve residents safely and in accordance to individual food preferences and diets, maintenance of unit specific product inventory levels, clearing and setting up of dining tables, cleaning and sanitizing of resident dining and service areas. Responsibilities are conducted with a focus on resident and family satisfaction.

This position is being recruited for Humber Meadows, Long Term Care located at Finch & Hwy 400. 
The wage rate being offered is $19.50 hourly along with a comprehensive benefits package - which will be shared with you upon hire.

A clear understanding and practice of safe food handling practices and sanitation procedures as specified through Aramark policies and procedures and provincial legislation is required. The Food Service Aide performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with Aramark’s operational policies as well as within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts. 

Job Responsibilities

The Food Service Aide’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the duties and responsibilities outlined below. While specific assignments may vary daily, weekly, or monthly basis, the following outlines the general expectations:
•    Takes and records all temperatures of foods in the servery that are being served to the resident prior to each meal to ensure all food items are at proper temperatures as per standards; takes corrective action as necessary 
•    Performance of resident meal portioning, plating and delivery with the support of the care services team, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
•    Ensures accuracy of food items being delivered to the resident and informs resident of meal selection and any therapeutic diet information
•    Plates resident meals and presents attractively displayed meals based on resident choice, diet, preference, and supportive devices to meet individual dietary requirements at the required times.
•    Demonstrates initiative to meet resident needs consistent with resident -focused care approach.
•    Evaluates on an ongoing basis the overall acceptance of meal service including portions, palatability and waste and communicate results to cook.
•    Clearing and cleaning of resident dining and service areas.
•    Sets tables for residents meal service
•    Sets up work stations including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, steam tables, etc.
•    Prepares food as assigned by Cook, if necessary
•    Portions dessert and garnishes as required 
•    Implementation and practice of established safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
•    Cleans equipment daily according to posted cleaning schedule
•    Washes dishes after meals and operates dish machine
•    Inventory and replenishment of unit specific supplies.
•    Attentive care and consideration of resident, staff and visitors’ requests.
•    Attend mandatory training and departmental meetings.
•    Displays polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers and co-workers. Maintains friendly, efficient and responsive attitude toward client and residents while performing job duties.
•    Maintains the privacy, safety, and dignity of each resident by observing resident confidentiality and by strictly adhering to safety and sanitation standards
•    Other related duties as required (i.e.: Temperature/Food/Waste/Dish Machine Audits).

Performs all other duties as required in a safe manner consistent with the Facility Statement of Philosophy, Department Goals, Mission Statement, and The Statement of Resident Rights.
 

Qualifications

•    Grade 12 education or equivalent (minimum age 18- preferred)
•    Proficient in both written and spoken English.
•    Understanding and proven ability of basic mathematical calculations.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with residents, visitors, staff, and co-workers.
•    Must have the manual dexterity required for handling equipment and supplies
•    In addition, incumbent must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment. Must be willing and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
•    Must provide clear Criminal Record Check AND Vulnerable Sector Check
