About Working in Remote Camps

• Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site (meals and accommodation included) on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.  A typical shift schedule is 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off, or 20 days on and 10 days off depending on the specific site.
• Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from camp locations.
• Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply. Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months.
• Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces, and some require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• All new staff are required to complete pre-employment onboarding orientations.
• Our team members include Clerks, Cleaners, General Helpers, Housekeepers, Janitors, Maintenance, Security, Chefs, Cooks, Bakers, Lodge Managers, Health and Safety Officers and more.

About the Job, Benefits and Perks

• Must live in Timmins, Ontario or surrounding area
• Wages: $28 per hour
• Rotation Schedule: 2 shifts per week; 8 hours per day, 10 days off
• Required to stay overnight in remote camp (accommodation provided)

Location: This camp is remote and located approximately 4 hours from Timmins, Ontario.  Our team organizes all logistics and travel for employees to get to and from camp.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicle transporting passengers to and from designated locations    
• Must complete a daily vehicle inspection form prior to driving and after finishing their route.
• Ensure a pleasant and clean atmosphere is always maintained in and out of the vehicle
• Apply all safety equipment available, always wear seat belt when driving
• Maintain communication with the supervisor
• Drivers are required to drive defensively, safely, and cautiously in all situations
• Exceptional customer service skills are needed when encountering guests; to ensure a good positive representation of is always demonstrated
• Fuel, clean, and inspect vehicle when required
• Identify maintenance and safety issues and take the correct steps to correct them, and report malfunctions immediately.
• Must ensure all vehicle logbooks are completed properly, including rider-ship information log
• May be required to do maintenance and safety inspections on service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other vehicles and equipment. This includes checking and changing oil and tires, lights, and general vehicle condition

Qualifications

• Valid Class 3 Driver’s License is required
• Good driving record with no traffic violations
• Completion of basic First Aid, Transport of Dangerous Goods, and Health and Safety Training is an asset
• Organization, cleanliness and a professional attitude are a must
• Attention to detail is important
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong decision-making and delegation skills
• Superior organization and time management skills
• Team player able to provide support, motivation and encouragement to others
• Mechanical skills is an asset
