Aramark is recruiting a Residence Dining Assistant Manager at Memorial University, St. John’s, NL campus. We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for the industry, as well as the know how to build, direct, and manage a team. Reporting to the Residence Dining Manager and working in conjunction with the Executive Chef on a daily basis, the Residence Dining Assistant Manager will assist the Manager with daily food service operations in catering and in the residence dining hall at Memorial University.  This will include supervision of staff, and helping to plan, organize and direct all aspects of the food service operations on a day-to-day basis.

Job Responsibilities

•    Supervise the day-to-day operations of the food service includes delegating tasks, motivating, and coaching employees as required
•    Meet daily with the Manager and Chef to discuss operational and staffing concerns
•    Assist with flow of day-to-day operations on the floor and catering
•    Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes
•    Ensure food safety standards and HACCP enforced at all times
•    Proactively manage food and labor cost controls
•    Assist with the recruitment, training, and orientation of staff 
•    Responsible for creating weekly employee schedule and filling shifts as needed
•    Input and verify weekly payroll
•    Manage staff-related issues such as vacation requests, employee sick time, and progressive discipline as required
•    Responsible for supervising cash handling procedures, which include alance cash float, safe, verify deposit and random cashier audits
•    Responsible for completing all safety documentation 
•    Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary.
•    Fill in for the Residence Dining Manager when required 
•    Participate in a rotating early opening schedule to manage attendance

Qualifications

•    A minimum of 1-3 years management experience in food service or hospitality
•    Self-directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Previous culinary or production planning experience an asset
•    Strong organizational and team building skills
•    Experience managing in a unionized environment is an asset
•    Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members
•    Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and Word
•    Ability to work flexible hours that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

The pay range for this position is $55,000.00 - $58,000.00.
