Job Description
Be a part of the Canada Games! Lighthouse Hospitality, provided by Aramark, is hiring temporary food service workers to help provide food services to athletes staying in the athlete’s village.
Food Service Workers (FSW’s) report directly to the Residence Dining Manager on duty but are also accountable to the Lead Hand assigned to that area. FSW’s are responsible for providing general help in the operation on a daily basis. Duties and positions within this classification include: counter attendants, bussers, cleaners, food prep, food service and kitchen helpers, storekeepers/receivers, dishwashers, pot washers, van drivers and baristas.
FSW’s must be very customer oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment and problem solve (or escalate) service issues as they arise. All service staff are expected to set a good example of reliability, punctuality, attendance, and grooming and maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
This is a temporary position for the Canada Games. Applicants need to be available for mandatory orientation on July 31st 9am - 5pm and a variety of shifts (early morning, day time, evening, late night and weekends) as required fom August 8th to August 25th.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
- Understand what is inclusive of a meal
- Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- Timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages
- Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Adhere to the uniform policy
- Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- Supervise the food temperature requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
- Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
- Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment; duties include sweeping, moping, ware washing
- Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
- Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
- Must be able to multi-task effectively.
- Must be able to maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours/shifts as required.
- This role may also require usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Capable of extensive physical tasks, including, but not limited to; bending crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, lifting, and able to complete repetitive motion tasks of the hand, wrist and elbow and extended walking and standing.
- Lifting requirements for this position are moderate to heavy, (ability to lift up to 75lbs occasionally and 20-50lbs frequently).
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must complete the mandatory orientation including food safety training, GHS training & safety training.
