About Working in Remote Camps
- Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.
- Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff.
- Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.
- Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces and require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
The Relief Chef Manger / Breakfast Baker / Housekeeper is responsible for the overall management, quality, preparation, and performance of the kitchen. Breakfast cooking and baking as outlined in a predetermined menu plan. Housekeeping responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of our camps to keep our guests happy and healthy.

- Temporary position starting September 11th and ending December 21st, 2026
- Wages starting between $23.60 and $25.65
- Overtime pay
- Schedule: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts depending on operational needs
- Rotation: 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off

Camp Location
This camp is remote and located approximately 5 hours south of Smithers, BC. Our team organizes all logistics and travel for employees to get to and from camp.

Job Responsibilities
Chef Manager / Breakfast Baker
- Prepare and cook menu items for breakfast and baked goods according to recipes and presentation standards
- Plan menus and contribute new dishes or seasonal features
- Oversee food preparation and kitchen staff (if applicable)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff
- Manage inventory, food costs, and ordering supplies
- Maintain food costs at acceptable levels, ensure portion control, including maximum utilization of employees and equipment
- Ensure daily communication with employees and management including conducting daily Toolbox Talks
- Ensure guests/clients at site receive superior customer service
- Adhere to all safety practices, procedures and guidelines
Housekeeping
- Make beds, change linens, comforters and towels
- Remove garbage and dust shelving
- Sweep and vacuum the mudroom, hallway, and entranceways
- Check inbound and outbound guest lists for room changeover. Report changes and cleaned items
- Ensure bathrooms are cleaned each day (floors, toilets, shower stalls, sinks, and mirrors)
- Replenish toilet paper, paper towels and soap
- Keep the laundry room tidy; dust and sweep daily, mop every other day
- Keep linen storage clean and organized
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- 5+ years Chef experience preferably in remote camp or hotel/hospitality industry
- Strong baking experience and skills in a high production environment
- 1 to 2 years housekeeping experience is preferred or a willingness to learn the position
- Must have strong leadership skills and experience managing a small team
- Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade or equivalent is an asset
- Valid WHMIS and Food Safe Advanced and First Aid Certifications are mandatory
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organization skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently
- Always maintain a professional appearance
- Works safely and responsibly

The pay range for this position is $24.62 - $25.65.
