Job Description
Aramark Canada is looking for Operations Manager with multi-site or / and multi-service experience preferably within the Higher Education sector with proven success in Food Services and Catering and managing Retail operations.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the food contract at the sites and its financial accountability, and compliance with the standards established by Aramark Canada, regulatory agencies and client. Leads departments of all services managed. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments to provide a superior service experience for students, visitors, and employees.
We are accepting candidates based in Sherbrooke, the surrounding regions, as well as Ottawa. If we find the right candidate, relocation support will be offered.
Bilingualism is preferred, but fluency in English is essential for this role.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards.
- Builds strong relationships with client management across all levels of the organization while proactively identifying opportunities to expand Aramark’s services.
- Provides overall direction and manages performance for all Food Service Supervisors and front-line employees, ensuring employee development, engagement and compliance with human resource-related policies and standards.
- Directs, staff, and trains food service department regarding food presentation, quality, cost control, and cash handling.
- Develop operational component forecasts and is able to explain variances. Responsible for component's accounting functions.
- Ensures compliance with all contract obligations.
- Assist with hiring, training, and coaching of employees
- Ensures compliance with all contractual obligations while overseeing daily operational tasks such as opening and closing procedures, cash handling (including floats and deposits), and supporting weekly inventory management.
- Record and analyze financial data on; Customer Accounts, Average Check, Food/Labour Costs
- Ensure adherence to all H&S policies, procedures and required activities (i.e. updated safety boards, inventory of First Aid Kits, proper chemical handling, monthly safety talks etc.)
- Ensure daily temperature logs are kept on fridges and freezers, monitor Equipment repair and maintenance
- Ensure staff adherence to Aramark policies and procedures (ie. Uniform and Meal Plan Policy)
- Motivate and encourage staff and ensure that Customer Service Standards are maintained and assist them when needed during peak hours
- Assist with developing and maintaining staff job routines and schedules and covering call offs
Qualifications
- Has over three years of progressive experience managing multi-unit site operations with financial responsibility ranging from $1–$2 million, including P&L oversight and contract-managed services.
- Communicates effectively with clients, customers, and staff both verbally and in writing, and is capable of producing professional business correspondence, summaries, and reports.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills, including knowledge of probability and statistics, and is proficient in inventory control, cash handling, and general computer use.
- Possesses solid leadership and management abilities, handles confidential information responsibly, and interacts with staff and customers in a mature and professional manner.
- Performs well under pressure, meets deadlines, multitasks efficiently, delivers excellent customer service, and is knowledgeable about employment standards and health and safety legislation.
