Job Description
The Pastry Baker is responsible for leading the bakery team in preparing and baking sweet goods, cookies, cakes, muffins, and frostings according to recipes and production guidelines. In this role, the Pastry Baker must adhere to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Experience in scratch baking or cooking is essential to train new hires and supervise daily work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys baking, working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a close-knit team serving large groups daily. The Pastry Baker will support the bakers and kitchen team in preparing fresh baked goods, desserts, breads, pastries, cookies, cakes and specialty items while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness and food safety.
Job Responsibilities

• Schedules and assigns daily work tasks to a food service team and oversees the completion of tasks
• Trains and guides staff on job duties, proper food safety and sanitation procedures, baking techniques, etc.- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to recipes and specifications
- Decorate cakes and pastries using various techniques such as cake decorating and piping
- Assist in food preparation tasks including mixing, measuring, and assembling ingredients
- Ensure all baked goods meet quality standards before presentation or packaging
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen
- Package finished products for sale or delivery with attention to presentation and safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety regulations
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with general kitchen duties as needed
- Assist with preparing allergy-conscious and dietary-friendly baked items when required
• Ensures quality of outgoing products to meet established standards
• Manages inventory supplies and orders new ingredients and supplies as needed
• Coordinates and participates in large-volume batches of baked goods in a hands-on manner
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a supervisor in a related role preferred
• Experience as a baker or pastry assistant required• Ability to follow detailed recipes and execute consistent results
• Independence to work with limited supervision required
• Proven knowledge of food preparation, various baking techniques, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalThis role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00.
