Aramark is hiring an Executive Chef to launch a new culinary operation at a prestigious private school in Toronto.  Ignite your creativity in a brand new state-of-the art kitchen facility!  The Executive Chef is a management position overseeing  hourly culinary staff, responsible for developing and executing  a wide variety of culinary solutions to meet customer needs and tastes. Oversees and manages culinary operations to meet production, presentation, and service standards. Applies culinary techniques to food preparation and manages the final presentation and service of food.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with management in the creation of new menu items

•    Considers dietary restrictions and nutritional balance in meal and snack planning
•    Responsible for the preparation and delivery snacks and lunch from Monday – Friday
•    Plans all catering events and responsible for the execution and delivery of selected menu
•    Ensures culinary production appropriately connects to the Executional Framework 
•    Ensures proper culinary standards for food preparation, presentation, and service 
•    Manages a culinary team of hourly staff, to ensure quality in final presentation of food 
•    Train and manage culinary employees to use best practice food production techniques 
•    Coach employees by creating a shared understanding about what is to be achieved 
•    Reward and recognize employees 
•    Plan and execute team meetings and daily huddles 
•    Complete staff records - training shift opening/closing checklists and performance data 
•    Develop effective client rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships 
•    Aggregate and communicate regional culinary and ingredient trends 
•    Responsible for delivering food and labor targets 
•    Focus on margin improvement; performance metrics, data, order, and inventory trends 
•    Ensure efficient execution and delivery of culinary products in line with the daily menu 
•    Maintain integrity of the Aramark standard food offer; food quality and safety of items 
•    Comply with Operational Excellence fundamentals: managing waste, standard menus, recipes and ingredients through managing customer driven menus and labor standards 
•    End to end supply chain and procurement process and systems, authorized suppliers only 
•    Accurate estimated food consumption for appropriate requisitions and/or food purchase 
•    Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance 
•    Ensure compliance with Aramark SAFE food and Quality Assurance standards, occupational and environmental safety policies in all culinary and kitchen operations 
•    Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, wage and hour

Qualifications

A minimum of 4 years senior culinary experience in an institutional facility is preferred 
•    Requires a culinary degree or equivalent experience or a combination of both
•    Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
•    Full knowledge and implementation of the Food Framework 
•    Experience in menu design including dietary restrictions and nutritional balance
•    Significant catering experience required to lead on-site events with external guests
•    Knowledge and experience preparing various international dishes is an asset
•    A minimum of 2 years employee supervision and management of people and/or problems
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead team and liaise with clients
•    Organization, ability to multi-task and meet with shifting priorities in a calm manner 
•    Ability to simplify the agenda for the team
