About Working in Remote Camps

  • Our camps are located in remote areas and staff live on-site (meals and accommodation included) on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks.  A typical shift schedule is 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off, or 20 days on and 10 days off depending on the specific site.
  • Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from camp locations.
  • Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 10-12 hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply. Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months.
  • Health and Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces, and some require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. All new staff are required to complete pre-employment onboarding orientations.
  • Our team members include Clerks, Cleaners, General Helpers, Housekeepers, Janitors, Maintenance, Security, Chefs, Cooks, Bakers, Lodge Managers, Health and Safety Officers and more.

 

The Breakfast Cook and Baker is responsible for preparing breakfast and service, plus preparing all baked items, as outlined in a predetermined menu plan.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Provide excellent customer service and upholds the LandSea reputation
  • Bakes and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes; 70% scratch baking is required
  • Works overnight to prepare and serve breakfast to clientele, generally consisting of eggs to order, an omelette bar, hash browns, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, French toast, pancakes or waffles
  • Works with the Head Cook to plan breakfast menus and complete the preparation and service of breakfast
  • Keeps kitchen tidy and sanitized. Works within all Food Safe guidelines
  • Ensures groceries are stocked as well as kept organized and adhering to FIFO
  • Helps the Head Cook with daily cleaning responsibilities and stocking of lunch options (premade sandwiches and sandwich station offerings)
  • Assisting with inventory counts if required
  • Putting away grocery orders in a neat and timely manner
  • Advising Head Cook of supplies required and/or equipment issues
  • Sweeping, mopping and sanitizing tables and counters

 

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time
  • Fast and repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 lbs
  • Use hands to handle objects and tools
  • Able to complete up to 12 hours shifts

  • LandSea Camp Services Orientation and Training Modules
  • Clear drug and alcohol test
  • Government-issued ID is required for air travel.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Breakfast Cook and strong baking abilities
  • Maintain a minimum of 70% Scratch baking
  • Great communication. Speak, read and write English
  • Team player and can provide support, motivation, and encouragement to others
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Always maintain a professional appearance
  • Work safely and responsibly
