We are hiring a full-time Sous Chef to join our team at the Teraaanga Commons Dining Hall on Carleton University campus. Working with the management team on a daily basis, and reporting to the Executive Sous Chefs, the Sous Chef II oversees all activities of the Sous Chef I, Cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking food. The Sous Chef II will manage, train and provide culinary vision and leadership in a high-volume environment.

About the Job
• Oversee and take part in food production for the operation
• Provide high quality food in a professional and efficient manner
• Resolve customer concerns in a timely and courteous manner
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding menu item preparation, including dietary restrictions and allergies
• Develop and motivate team members by providing culinary leadership and training
• Responsible for performance management and incident reporting
• Manage and task culinary staff while maintaining accountability and fostering an engaging culture
• Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and healthy work environment and compliance with food safety regulations
• Participate in menu planning, including forecasting, ordering and execution
• Control inventories by closely monitoring food waste and effectively managing planned usage
• Oversee labour schedules in a unionized environment
• Ensure adherence to all of Aramark Policies and Procedures
• May perform other job duties as required
About You
• Multiple years in a supervisory role within the culinary field
• Professional culinary training is an asset
• Red Seal Certification is an asset
• Passion for food and hospitality
• Excellent people management skills; experience training and supervising a team of 10+ culinary staff per shift
• Working knowledge and training on all health & safety standards and sanitation standards i.e. Food Safe, GHS, Health and Safety Policies, food-handling techniques
The selected candidate for this position will need to complete and successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.

The pay range for this position is $53,000.00 - $60,000.00.
