Job Description
The Food Prep Worker prepares, and portions food items and performs various duties in accordance with production requirements and Aramark sanitation standards. Uses daily worksheets and standardized recipes to cook meals.
Job Responsibilities
• Support the culinary department as a Prep Cooks in synchronizing culinary food preparation tasks.
• Acts as a role model to the department and ensure day to day production, responds to their questions.
• Reads and follows recipes – demonstrates proficiency in culinary tasks/food items.
• Support and prepared food quantities for the banquets to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
• Prepares and plates final food products ensuring an attractive presentation is achieved.
• Maintains a strong working knowledge of culinary trends and uses them where appropriate.
• Ensures proper handling of all food products and equipment is maintained, to ensure food safety and kitchen standards are always adhered to.
• Ensures cleanliness and high sanitation standards are always maintained.
• Organizes and maintains stock rooms and walk-in refrigerators.
• Able to work with the culinary team on the kitchen side for any extra support and complete schedule.
• At the end of the shift return all food items to designated storage areas - cover and date all perishable items.
• Understands and ensures HACCP guidelines are strictly followed.
• Able to works under supervision.
• Able to complete complex tasks and may provide back up to the 2nd Cook.
• Ensures recipes are followed to ensure quality standards are met.
Qualifications
- Culinary Diploma or degree from an approved culinary training institution or in process of completing.
- Working knowledge of Cook, Chill Retherm cooking process.
- Ability to work with chocolate and sugar.
- Food Handlers Certification.
- Knowledge on the culinary side as an asset.
- Completed clean criminal background check before first day of employment
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $22.51.
