We are hiring a full-time Assistant Catering Manager to join our team at Carleton University. Reporting to the Catering Manager, and working in conjunction with the other Assistant Manager, the Assistant Catering Manager is responsible for the management and execution of each day-to-day catering events and functions from beginning to end.
Culinary experiences and well-maintained environments are fundamental to student success. From brain-powering ingredients to comforting flavor combinations, nutritious food doesn’t have to be boring. Aramark chefs and dietitians are constantly reviewing the latest insights and food trends to find the next culinary innovation and help students discover their love of food.
We partner with you to enhance the student experience, support parents, and collaborate with administration, all while delivering on the expectations of parents and the community.
Job Responsibilities
• Ensures all contractual obligations of contract are met
• Supports Catering Manager at client meetings in determining floor plans, rentals and staffing
• Responsible for execution of functions
• Resolves customer concerns in a timely manner
• Supports meetings with the Catering Chef to plan menus for clients, special events
• Recruits, staffs, and oversees staff training
• Conducts hourly Performance Reviews with assistance from Banquet Captain
• Supervises hourly staff and provides leadership
• Sets staff work schedules and monitors staff performance
• Participates in progressive disciplinary process with assistance from Manager
• Supports inventory process
• Ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed
• Supports Marketing initiatives
• Verifies payroll
• Maintains vehicle inspection reports
• Ensures adherence to Aramark’s Policies and Procedures
• Ensures adherence to Aramark’s Health and Safety Policy
• Conducts weekly meetings with Catering Team
Qualifications
• Diploma in Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Management is preferred
• Must possess a valid ‘G” Driver’s License to operate campus van as required
• Previous hospitality and/or catering experience is required
• Some staff supervisory experience is a requirement
• Smart Serve certified – or willing to obtain as required
• Excellent customer service skills
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize to provide direction
• Must be flexible to work events as required that may include some evenings and weekends
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The pay range for this position is $48,000.00 - $50,000.00.
