Job Responsibilities
- Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.
- Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
- Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
- Ensures security of company assets

Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Private School Food Services | Ontario
Are you passionate about preparing great food and creating a positive dining experience for students and staff? We are seeking a reliable, energetic, and team-oriented Cook to join our food service team at a private school in Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys volume cooking, takes pride in food quality and safety, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks for students, faculty, staff, and special events. The successful candidate will support daily kitchen operations, maintain the highest food safety standards, and help create a welcoming dining experience for our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
• Prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks, and catered items using volume cooking methods.
• Measure, weigh, mix, chop, trim, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
• Cook, bake, roast, broil, steam, and prepare menu items following standardized recipes and quality standards.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion meals to ensure presentation and consistent service.
• Assist with cafeteria setup, service, and special school events as required.
Menu Support & Dietary Accommodations
• Support menu planning and preparation for students and staff with allergies, dietary restrictions, and special nutritional needs.
• Prepare dedicated meals for individuals with food allergies or dietary intolerances while following established safety protocols.
Food Safety & Sanitation
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Adhere to Ontario Ministry of Health Food Safety Guidelines and all workplace health and safety standards.
• Properly clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas.
• Follow safe food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures.
Inventory & Receiving
• Receive deliveries and ensure products meet quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs to management.
• Safely store meats, dairy, produce, and dry goods according to food safety regulations.
• Assist with stock rotation and waste reduction initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
• Previous professional experience as a Cook or Food Preparation Worker.
• Valid Ontario Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain certification immediately upon hire.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
Preferred
• Formal culinary training or completion of a Cook Apprenticeship (Certification of Qualification).
• 1–3 years of experience in institutional, school, healthcare, or commercial food service environments.
• Experience with high-volume meal production and special dietary accommodations.
