Job Description
Aramark is looking for a passionate Sommelier to join the team dedicated to the National Bank of Canada's executive dining room, located in the heart of downtown Montreal.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-end environment, showcasing your wine expertise, service skills, and event management talents.
What we offer:
- Permanent full-time position (40 hours/week)
- Regular schedule: Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (No late nights or weekends – Saturdays and Sundays off)

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and update the wine list using the Alfred Technologies platform.
- Recommend wines to customers based on their preferences and the dishes served.
- Order wines and manage stock levels, pricing, and storage.
- Negotiate prices and build strong relationships with wine suppliers.
- Collaborate with the chef and maître d'hôtel on food and wine pairings.
- Train front-of-house staff on the wine selection and service standards
- Actively participate in special events, tastings, and promotions
- Support the maître d'hôtel in organizing and managing cocktail events
- Ensure the quality of glassware, serving temperature, and presentation of wines
- Coordinate events and participate in front-of-house service
- Ensure compliance with alcohol laws and health standards
- Continuously monitor and analyze the quality of the wine cellar and the relevance of the wines offered
- Tidy the wine cellar and ensure that it is always well stocked
Qualifications
- Wine steward diploma or equivalent certification
- Relevant experience in high-end service
- Wine expertise
- Excellent perception, taste, and smell skills
- Mastery of tasting techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Mastery of food and wine pairings and in-depth knowledge of wine and wine tasting
- Good command of digital tools related to wine management (e.g., Alfred Technologies, an asset)
- In-depth knowledge of grape varieties, terroir, regions, and trends
- Proficiency in developing wine lists and managing costs
- Exceptional service and table presence skills
- Knowledge of the great châteaux and legendary estates of Burgundy and Italy. Prestigious appellation
- Knowledge of fine spirits, liqueurs, and beers
- Bilingual
