Job Description
Aramark Canada is hiring for a Health and Safety Manager supporting our Operations across Ontario to achieve “Target Zero”- no harm to people or the environment. This is a key position on the Risk, Health & Safety team reporting to the National Director of Risk, Health & Safety.
The H&S Manager is responsible to train, collaborate and provide guidance, advice and support to the various operations manager. This position functions as a strategic operational support generalist and advisor to enhance Safety and Risk process and system improvements. This position is an individual contributing role and a key point of contact for addressing operational needs as they relate to all Safety & Risk Solutions functional areas within their assigned region including all Remote Business operations that are physically located within Respective region.
The position is based in Ontario, at Aramark's head office in Mississauga, and is expected to be visiting in field to support on-site operations at least 2-3 times in the week.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships with key Aramark stakeholders and becoming integrated as part of these teams
- Directs process improvement to reduce risk and liability and exposure to adverse outcomes in occupational safety, general liability, food safety, property, environmental, new business risk assessment and large-scale project start-up
- Working within the Safety and Risk Solutions team assist with the development and implementation of safety process materials on regular basis to drive continuous improvement of Safety and Risk Solution performance metrics. Specific focus will be on cultivating culture change and line management ownership/sponsorship for safety.
- Responsible for troubleshooting safety incident and liability causes and provde recommendations for preventing or controlling these issues.
- Provide onsite/ virtual proactive operational support based on a standardized inspection
- Monitor local regulators, propose programmatic changes and keep the team updated
- Assess, evaluate risk and provide simple and practical solutions that are appropriately tailored for their level in the business (example- higher level message to Regional VPs versus more hands on “what I need to know” message for front line managers)
- Actively visible and on site to support the operators in all lines of business and working closely with Safety specialists for Remote locations where they exist or where no safety specialists are present working closely with site management in our Remote operations.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Health and Safety or a related science
• Required expertise in the Food Service or Hospitality industry
• 5+ years of hands-on problem-solving experience as an OHS professional with atleast 3 years of experience in indirectly influencing, advising and guiding various levels in the organization
• Working with a multi-site employer would be an asset
• Knowledge of Provincial and Federal Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
• Knowledge of Food Safety Standards and requirements
• Strong proven problem solving, analytical and reporting skills.
• Excellent client relations, coaching, mentoring and advocacy skills
• Strong communication skills to simplify complicated subject matters for non-safety professionals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to own transportation
• Valid passport and ability to support international events or operations as required
• Willing to travel up to 25% of the time including to remote destinations
• CRSP designation (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or other related professional safety designation is an asset
