Job Description
We are currently seeking an Accounting Analyst for Aramark Corporate Canada head office. The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for overall day-to-day accounting functions which include but are not limited to analysis and reconciliation of income statement and balance sheet for individual operations (components), month end close process, preparation and distribution of client billings and remittance of certain client payments.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs period end P&L (level) statement review, analyses variances with Budget and Projections, and prepares adjustments as required.
- Reconciles and analyzes Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis at the component level. Identifies and resolves Account Receivable, Capital Asset and Contract accounting issues.
- Reviews consistent accounting challenges with operations and/or Finance Management and designs and implements process improvement with the field. Trains field in processes.
- Reviews and approves reconciliation of more complex quarterly/year end departmental General Ledger accounts.
- Reviews contracts and becomes thoroughly familiar with contractual financial terms for LOB. Resolves issues including client reporting, billing and payment issues.
- Communicates results with operations management, senior operations management and senior financial management.
- Leads in process and systems development and enhancement. Initiates process improvements and leads special projects for accounting.
- Provides budget process support and business plan analytical support.
- Performs reconciliation of quarterly /year end General Ledger accounts, aggregating component level reconciliations.
- Ensures accurate and timely client reporting, billing and commission or other contract payments.
- Respond to requests from operations (Front Line Managers and/or District Managers).
- Monitors key financial indicators of components.
- Participates in annual Sarbanes Oxley testing of internal controls.
- Look for process improvements and efficiency where necessary
- Performs other duties as directed by the Accounting Manager.
- Works primarily on own with some supervision from Accounting Manager.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant or equivalent or working towards designation.
- 1-3 years’ experience in accounting roles, ideally within a contract intensive environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skill
- Able to work unsupervised
- Demonstrates initiative
- Motivated, intuitive, decisive, confident
- Strong technical accounting knowledge to gain respect of members of department/operations
