Job Description
The Director of Food Services holds a strategic management position and is responsible for developing and implementing food service solutions tailored to customer needs and preferences. Reporting to the Executive Director, he or she supervises and manages food services, where meals are prepared according to a set menu. The incumbent ensures that operational standards are maintained, customer satisfaction is achieved, and food safety and quality standards are met.
Job Responsibilities
- Reporting to the General Manager, manages all operations at several sites and ensures that operational standards are maintained across all sites for a major client in the Quebec region.
- Delivers strong operational performance by adhering to Aramark standards and programs, continuously monitoring operations, conducting assessments, and developing action plans necessary to provide optimal food quality and food service, and promote customer satisfaction.
- Ensures compliance with all physical and food safety standards.
- Interacts with customers and maintains effective customer relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Identifies opportunities for expansion of Aramark services.
- Provides general direction and manages the performance of all food service managers, supervisors, and front-line employees, ensuring employee development, engagement, and compliance with human resources policies and standards, including performing appropriate rounding.
- Manages, provides staff, and trains the food service department on presentation, quality, cost control, and cash handling.
- Develops forecasts for operational components and is able to explain variances.
- Responsible for component accounting functions.
- Ensures compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- University degree (bachelor's degree required).
- Certification in dietetics or experience in managing dietitians (an asset).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in food service management.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
- Mastery of food costs and usage.
- Keen sense of quality and experience in quality control.
- Solid experience in food service.
- Ability to write professional documents that comply with linguistic standards.
- Applied mathematics skills (probability, statistics).
- Proven leadership and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Flexibility and ability to respond to changing customer needs.
- Advanced computer skills.
