Job Description
We are hiring part-time Food Service Workers to assist with the running of our residence dining hall operations on Queen's University campus with Aramark Canada Ltd.
The Food Service Worker will assist the Manager with food and meal preparation, serve meals to customers, and maintain cash receipts and meal records. They will assist the Manager in completing daily reports and work closely with all other members of the team in a connected, efficient manner. In this role, it is essential to maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen cleaning and safety practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
- Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
- Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
- Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
- Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
- Add garnishes to appeal to customers
- Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food temperature, food handling, and storage
- Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area by following established procedures and standards for cleanliness; duties include sweeping, mopping, ware washing, scrubbing and polishing counters, and sanitizing steam tables
- Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications
- Ability to interact with customers and co-workers in a pleasant, respectful manner at all times
- Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- Time management skills to effectively manage several demands at once or in quick succession
