Job Description

We are hiring for part-time food prep positions with Aramark Canada on Queen's University main campus.  

The position is responsible for assisting cooks, chefs, or food service managers by preparing ingredients for recipes and performing other food preparation and service tasks. In successful candidate will prepare food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares all food items using prep lists and standard Aramark recipes.
• Follows proper food handling procedures.
• Maintains accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
• Manages leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and accurately store according to Aramark standards.
• Maintains clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
• Ensures stations are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift (including cleaning of kitchen equipment).
• Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all food safety standards and regulations.
• Follows safety policies and accident reporting procedures.
• Completes all required training.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year prep work or food service-related work preferred
• Knowledge of various food prep methods, proper knife handling, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage preferred
• One or more years of cooking, line cooking or commercial kitchen experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lb
• Able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays
   

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
