The Food and Beverage Manager will oversee all culinary and beverage operations within the Donald Gorden Hotel and Conference Centre in Kingston, Ontario.   The position is responsible for driving profitability, maintaining quality service standards, and managing staff across the hotel restaurant, bars, and banquets.  This is the kind of environment where professionalism matters, details count, and people genuinely appreciate great hospitality.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Food and Beverage manager leads the food and catering strategy and execution ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery while making continuous improvement and enhancing the overall workplace experience.

Job Responsibilities

•    Manage the seamless operation of food and beverage services of the hotel, restaurant, bars, and catering services
•    Ensures food and beverage presentation, taste, and service quality meet the hotel standards
•    Address and resolve customer complains striving to exceed guest expectations
•    Hire, onboard and train food and beverage staff and manage shift schedules and performance
•    Manage inventory by tracking and controlling stock levels for food, alcohol, supplies and vendor negotiation
•    Manage budgets by tracking revenues, monitoring profitability and assist in menu pricing strategies
•    Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with the Client, customers, staff and management

Qualifications

•    Post-secondary degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field
•    2-5 years progressive leadership experience in hotel or upscale food and beverage operations
•    Previous experience managing executing catered events is required
•    Previous experience working in and/or managing in a unionized environment is an asset
•    Well developed organizational and communication skills are essential to the role
•    Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong financial acumen, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

 

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.

The pay range for this position is $65,000.00 - $70,000.00.
