Aramark is hiring a full time Assistant Manager for our new concept – Café Union – that is located in Goodes Hall at Queen’s University. Café Union will serve food that is supplied from our commissary such as sandwiches and salads and will prepare paninis, breakfast sandwiches, egg bites and a variety of hot and cold drinks at the operation. 

Reporting to the Senior Retail Director, the Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing beverage and dining solutions to meet customer needs and tastes. Oversees and manages Aramark operations where customers order beverages and prepared foods from a menu.

Job Responsibilities

•    Ensures the café operates in accordance with Aramark standards of services
•    Follows the Operational Excellence fundamentals by maintaining food and labour initiatives
•    Ensures individual and team is trained performance meets objective and client expectations
•    Brings value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management
•    Manages staff schedules and attendance; fills shifts for absent employees based on seniority
•    Ordering, inventory, POS, mobile orders and addresses customer concerns or complaints
•    Assists staff in cooking sandwiches, making drinks, customer service as required
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates food service activities to deliver finished product to the Customer
•    Supervises the team regarding production, quality, and control
•    Maintains a safe and healthy environment for patrons and employees

Qualifications

•    Previous experience working in an upscale café or Barista experience is an asset
•    1-3 years previous food service supervisory experience is required
•    Experience in directing the work of others as per job duties and business requirements
•    Ability to act with a ‘Customer comes first attitude’ to meet and exceed expectations
•    Effective oral communication skills and knowledge of a food service retail environment
•    Maintain effective working relationships with managers, staff and patrons 
•    Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50lbs.
•    Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
