Aramark is hiring a Residence Dining Chef for our student dining halls at Dalhousie University. This position supports our culinary operations among the four dining halls, and assists our operators as required that includes high-volume catered events.
Culinary experiences and well-maintained environments are fundamental to student success. From brain-powering ingredients to comforting flavor combinations, nutritious food doesn’t have to be boring. Aramark chefs and dietitians are constantly reviewing the latest insights and food trends to find the next culinary innovation and help students discover their love of food.
We partner with you to enhance the student experience, support parents, and collaborate with administration, all while delivering on the expectations of parents and the community.
Job Responsibilities
• Prepare and execute dining hall meal plan recipes and food service delivery across 4 residences
• Support the culinary team and Food Service Managers as required
• Ensure consistent standards and techniques are applied to the preparation and presentation of food items.
• Mentor employees by crafting shared understanding about what needs to be achieved and how it is to be achieved.
• Develop and maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually advantageous business relationships.
• Full compliance with Operational Excellence fundamentals: handling waste, standard menus, recipes and ingredients through leading customer driven menus and labor standards.
• Full knowledge and implementation of the Food Framework.
• Ensure correct equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with Aramark SAFE food, occupational and environmental safety policies in all culinary and kitchen operations.
• Follow all applicable policies, rules, and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, wages, and hours.

Qualifications
• 2-3 years culinary experience in a supervisory role is required
• Culinary diploma or degree is preferred
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff is required
• Flexibility to work at four (4) dining hall campus locations day-to-day as required
• Availability to work flexible shifts during the week and occasional weekend for special events
• Driver’s license is an asset to travel between campus dining halls
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $55,000.00 - $60,000.00.
