Job Description
The Production Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of preparation duties in a traditional
institutional kitchen in accordance with production schedules, standardized recipes and standards in
accordance with accepted safety and food handling policies and procedures with an overall focus towards
implementing quality and quantity food standards and controls as established for the Food Services
Department
Job Responsibilities
- Assists Cook on duty with food ordering, the preparation of a variety of food including but not limited to daily menu and nourishment items, textured modified diets, catering and special event
- production in accordance with established menus and production schedules.
- Report any supply shortage to management (ie. chemicals, food products, etc.)
- Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines.
- Ensures a sanitary working and production environment in accordance with accepted practices and Aramark standards.
- Ensures that all products are prepared, stored (using First in First out procedure), labelled and
- served according to safe food handling practices.
- Assists with meal service when needed including but not limited to the clearing and cleaning of dining rooms as required.
- Assist Cook with any duties as required.
- Stocking and receiving orders.
- Complete all logs required with position.
- Maintain a clean work environment – dispose garbage throughout shift.
- Use and maintain PPE.
- Assists with the assembling of meal carts for meal service and catering events.
- Attends mandatory training and departmental meetings.
- Displays polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers and co-workers. Maintains friendly,
- efficient and responsive attitude toward client and client’s customers/residents while performing job duties.
- Performs all other duties as required and allocated by Manager.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent (minimum age 16- preferred)
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, customers, and co-workers. ·
- Must have the manual dexterity required for handling equipment and supplies ·
- In addition, incumbent must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment. ·
- Must provide clear criminal record check and Vulnerable Sector screen ·
- Must provide vaccination record for Covid-19 and annual flu including boosters
