Job Description

The Manager of Indigenous Relations will play a critical role in fostering positive relationships between Aramark and Indigenous communities throughout Canada.

This position is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing strategies that enhance the company’s engagement with Indigenous peoples, ensuring that our operations are aligned with Indigenous values and perspectives. The Manager will work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to promote cultural understanding, support community development, and uphold the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

 

A significant aspect of this role involves building and enhancing relationships with Indigenous communities through collaboration and meaningful dialogue to maintain existing Indigenous partnerships and obtain mutually beneficial agreements with new Indigenous partners.

Job Responsibilities

The Role includes:

  1. Development of strategic engagement plans with Indigenous Communities with a focus on building and maintaining relationships, open communication and collaboration.
  2. Managing accounts and ensuring Aramark Canada’s adherence to its commitment delivery plans with Indigenous partners.
  3. Conducting prospecting and opportunity assessments to identify new Indigenous partners.
  4. Liaising with Aramark Canada’s traditional sectors to explore growth opportunities.
  5. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to define Aramark’s Indigenous Relations strategies and lead Aramark Canada’s work with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business’s Progressive Indigenous Relations certification program.
  6. Participating in and following up on industry networking events, including conferences and association events.
  7. Monitor, analyze and communicate national, regional and local indigenous issues that could affect the Company or impact strategic initiatives.

 

The role includes 1) Account management and adherence to commitment delivery of Aramark Canada’s Participation Plans with their Indigenous partners. 2) prospecting and opportunity assessments regarding new Indigenous partners, 3) Liaising with Aramark Canada’s traditional sectors for growth opportunities 4) lead Aramark’s PAIR retention efforts with CCIB 5) and participation and follow-up from industry networking events including conferences and association

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Indigenous/community/public relations, business development or project management.
  • 5+ years related work experience in the field of Indigenous Relations, Stakeholder Relations, and/or Business Development. 2+ years experience leading people.
  • Excellent software skills in MS Office suite, CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Strong social media skills and a solid social media presence
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet firm deadlines with minimal supervision; proven capacity to be a self-starter.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage key initiatives and budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute effective community engagement strategies.
  • Strong analytical and professional judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated Indigenous peoples' cultural and business awareness, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community leaders to build lasting relationships.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to reconciliation.
  • Strong leadership and advocacy skills.
