Job Description

We’re seeking a motivated, energetic and ambitious professional to join our team as a Regional Safety Manager (West). This role is a pivotal part of the West leadership team, and the ideal candidate will be able to set direction, influence and set a high bar for success in safety. With experience in food and / or occupational health and safety, preferably in the Food & Beverage, Hospitality or Retail sector, you will play a key role in enhancing our safety team and supporting the well-being of our most valuable assets – our people.
Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will reside within 100km of a major airport in the western region, with preference to Alberta. Travel across the western provinces (20-50%) will be required.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor local regulations, propose programmatic changes, and ensure the team is updated on relevant regulations
- Proactive Support: Offer proactive operational support through inspections, assessments and engagement visits, both onsite and virtually
- Incident Management: Support the management of safety incidents, injuries or impact to brand risk, offering recommendations for prevention and control
- Coaching and Guidance: Provide expert coaching and guidance to operational leadership to drive process improvement, reduce liability and enhance occupational safety, food safety and overall risk management. Key responsibilities to include managing the COR certification process in Western Canada to ensure successful completion
- Continuous Improvement: Work within the Safety and Risk Solutions team to develop and implement safety process materials regularly, driving continuous improvement in safety and risk solution performance metrics
- Tailored Communication: Assess and evaluate risks and provide practical, tailored solutions suitable for different levels within the organization, from Regional VPs to front-line managers
- Cultural Change: Focus on cultivating a culture change and instilling a sense of safety ownership and sponsorship among operational management. Bring a can-do attitude to supporting the region
- Leadership and RVP Support: actively support the RVP with visits, messaging and developing localized safety solutions in the region. The successful participant will take an active part with West region senior team and actively participate in region calls, annual training and west events
Qualifications
- Proficiency in English
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health or related field preferred
- Knowledge or ability and willingness to learn about food safety standards and regulations
- Knowledge of applicable OHS legislation, with strong ability to understand and interpret regulation
- 5-8 years of occupational and/or food safety experience in Food & Beverage, Hospitality or Retail
- Strong problem-solving, coaching and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to own transportation
- Ability to travel across the western region

- Flexibility to work remotely, and within 100km of a major airport
- Relevant certification (e.g., CRSP, CIPHI) is an asset

The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00.
