Job Description

The Chef Manager is a key member of the Support Services team, overseeing daily kitchen operations, food quality, safety, and staff performance for AgeCare Harmony Court. This role ensures exceptional meal service for residents, supports catering and special events, and maintains compliance with Aramark, AgeCare, and regulatory standards. The Chef Manager works with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment and provides leadership coverage when the Support Services Manager is away.

Job Responsibilities

•    Lead, schedule, and supervise the food service team; fill staffing gaps as needed.
•    Oversee kitchen operations, food production, and adherence to recipes, standards, and safety protocols.
•    Conduct weekly safety observations and daily cleanliness audits; initiate corrective action when required.
•    Assist with food preparation and ensure timely, high‑quality meal service.
•    Maintain production records, forecasting, temperature logs, and all required HACCP and compliance documentation.
•    Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor communication; enter invoices and maintain accurate stock levels.
•    Support menu development, special event/holiday menus, and recreation catering.
•    Collaborate with the Dietitian to update diet sheets and ensure special diets are followed.
•    Participate in resident rounding, department meetings, and client committees.
•    Maintain strong relationships with residents, staff, and other departments, demonstrating a service‑focused approach.
•    Provide support to housekeeping and laundry scheduling and audits as needed.
•    Act as interim manager during Support Services Manager absences.
•    Perform other duties as required to support operations.

Qualifications

Mandatory


•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent walking and light lifting.
•    Flexibility with changing schedules and tasks.
•    Successful completion of required training during probation.
•    Clear Criminal Record Check.

 

Preferred Education


•    Two‑year diploma in Management, Hotel/Restaurant, or Dietetics.

 

Certifications


•    Advanced Food Safe.
•    CSNM certification.
•    Cooking certification required.

 

Experience


•    2–3 years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare food service environment.

 

 

Technical Skills


•    Proficiency with Word, Excel, and general office software.

Trade School
Associates preferred

The pay range for this position is $53,045.00 - $65,776.00.
