Job Description

Assistant Support Services Manager works as part of a management team in food and nutrition services performing tasks such as training, coaching and administrative duties for employees and residents of Age Care Harmony Court. Follows proper food handling procedures.  Maintains production records and ensures audit compliance. Assists on Resident floors/units as required. Organizes catering and special events as required.  Works with minimal supervision and accomplishes tasks in a fast-paced environment following departmental guidelines. The Assistant Manager performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with Aramark’s operational policies as well as within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of food services, housekeeping, and resident laundry.
  • Conduct or delegate regular audits (Food Safe, housekeeping, safety, cleaning standards).
  • Ensure compliance with Aramark, client, and regulatory policies (WHMIS, OH&S, QA, H&S).
  • Participate in HR functions: recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, scheduling, payroll, and performance management.
  • Lead or support staff meetings, resident/family councils, and client meetings.
  • Address resident, family, and staff concerns with timely follow‑up and resolution.
  • Oversee daily work assignments and fill staffing gaps as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production schedules, menus, logs, and documentation (HACCP, temps, waste, equipment checks).
  • Monitor cleanliness and ensure SOPs and cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and invoice entry.
  • Support menu development, special events, and product evaluations.
  • Ensure safe work practices, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, staff, and client partners.
  • Act as interim manager during SS Manager absences.
  • Perform other duties as required to support operations.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

•    Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
•    Must successfully complete the required training program within the defined probationary period.
•    Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, customers, and co-workers.
•    Must have the physical capabilities required for light lifting and constant walking.
•    In addition, incumbent must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment.  Must be willing and capable of working in fast paced environment.
•    Must provide clear Criminal Record Check

 

Preferred:

Minimum 2-year College Diploma with a Management, Hotel/Restaurant or Dietetic specialty.
(b)    Provincial or other vocational or professional certification or degree:
Food Safe Certification an asset.  Cooking certification not required but an asset.
(c)    Previous Experience Required:
2 to 3 years’ experience in Management or Supervision in a Healthcare environment.
(d)    Special skills/training needed to perform job or operate equipment:
•    Word, Office and Excel knowledge is required

Associates preferred
Minimum 1-2 years experience

The pay range for this position is $53,045.00 - $65,776.00.
