Do you love to cook? Are you passionate about food? We are seeking a Prep Cook to join the team at the incredibly special Brigadoon Village in Alyesdord, NS. 

Brigadoon Village is a non-profit recreational facility that delivers year-round camp programming that seeks to passionately transform the lives of Atlantic Canadian children and youth living with health conditions and other life challenges. We help them reach their full potential through experiential learning, meaningful connections and exceptional fun.

This is a casual position with full time hours in the Spring and Summer. The position will shift to casual, on-call during the winter months, and return to full time in Spring and Summer. The starting wage for this position is $18.00 per hour.
 

Job Responsibilities

• Assist culinary team in preparing  variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes  
• Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment 
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items 
• May operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc. 
• Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures 
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils  
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc. 
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation  

Qualifications

• 1 year culinary experience considered an asset 
• Knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage considered an asset
• Team player; must be able to work as a part of a team
• Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
